First of all, it delivers accurate readings thanks to its high-speed V16 Doppler radar system that is used by PGA professionals. Secondly, you can easily carry it with you to any golf course. Lastly, this system is very simple to use and even comes with a mobile app for iOS and Android devices.

Let’s go over these features below so you can decide if it’s worth the $2000 price tag or not.

High-Speed Radar Technology inside a golf launch monitor

If you’re looking for a personal golf launch monitor that offers professional-grade quality, then you’ll love the Flightscope Mevo Plus.

BUY THE FLIGHTSCOPE MEVO+ HERE!

The device is equipped with a high-speed V16 Doppler radar system that can track even your slowest and fastest ball speeds and club head speed. It’s important to note that it also works very well when partially obstructed by trees or rain.

You can easily switch between different types of golf ball tracking such as drive, approach/utility shots, fairway shots and short game (pitch shots). One last thing worth mentioning is that this product measures carry distance accurately thanks to its High Accuracy GPS technology.

Launch Monitors Give Accurate Distance Information + Easy to Use

flightscope mevo plus review

Any golfer knows how frustrating it is hitting a great shot but being told it was only average thanks to a wrong distance measurement. With the help of the Mevo Plus, you won’t have huge deal with this issue anymore.

Since it’s an accurate launch monitor, you can expect to get precise information about all your shots, ball carry and flight time. The device also allows for club tracking giving you valuable feedback such as dispersion (direction), attack angle (launch direction) and face-to-path alignment (trajectory).

The setup process is easy and can be done in less than 5 minutes if you use the USB cable to connect directly with your computer. The same goes for the post-processing software that will display hundreds of useful stats and graphs on one screen along with media options like video recording or social sharing etc.

Mobile App for iOS and Android

With the Mevo Plus you can use your mobile device (iOS or Android) to connect with the launch monitor thanks to its bluetooth capabilities. The Mevo app is compatible with the latest generation of smartphones from Apple and Samsung as well as any tablet or phablet.

In short, this personal golf launch monitor scores high on most departments but there are a few downsides worth mentioning as well.

Launch Monitor Flawed Design?

There’s no doubt that this product is simple yet effective – but it doesn’t look all that appealing. For some reason, Flightscope decided to make it rectangular which isn’t a problem in itself – however, they could’ve made it more compact by making it closer resemble a rectangle and not a square.

Another downside is the fact that the software system they use for this product isn’t compatible with Mac or Linux computers. This shouldn’t be an issue if you own a PC though.

These minor issues aside, we still think it’s worth buying and here’s why:

Very Accurate Personal Golf Launch Monitor + Affordable Price Tag

You’d expect such a high quality personal golf launch monitor to cost at least $5000 but this one goes for only $2000 on Amazon (at the time of writing). Considering all its features and lifetime support from Flightscope, this price seems more than fair so in this case – don’t hesitate and go buy it now!

Flightscope Mevo+ Pros & Cons – See if it’s worth putting the golf club to use

Pros:

  • accurate data points in terms of carry and flight times
  • useful stats and graphs on one screen (no need for a separate computer)
  • bluetooth connectivity to mobile devices via Mevo app or flightscope golf app
  • professional-grade when it comes to launch monitors with spin rate, target line, spin axis, and ball flight tracking
  • Horizontal launch angle tracking
  • indoor use + internal camera + extremely portable + record video gives you a complete picture on the-go with this golf tech
  • extra features + smash factor = great shots hit.

Cons:

  • no Mac or Linux compatibility
  • design flaws (not compact enough, square-ish shape etc.)
  • ‘some’ space requirements for practicing indoors vs just going to practice ranges
  • need the FS golf app and/or the FS skills app (Flightscope skills app) for iOS devices

This Launch Monitors Summary:

The new Mevo Plus is without question an advanced personal golf launch monitor packed with new features and improved accuracy.

But does it make sense to spend two grand on such a device? Here’s our verdict: It really depends on your budget and how serious you are about improving your game.

If you can’t go above $2000 then this isn’t the product for you but if you’re up for investing some money into something that could help shave off strokes from your round, then why not? It’s still cheaper than your average golf club.

Golf Simulator Recommendation?

Yes! If you’re willing to invest in a high-quality personal launch monitor that will track everything from statistics, ball impact position and much more – this is it.

The Mevo Plus comes with updated features that make it an even better purchase for those that are serious about improving their game.

Club Speed + Roll Distance + Ball Flight Data

When it comes to ball speed, this simulator is very accurate and can give readings in excess of 200 mph.

As for roll distance, the numbers it displays are very close to what you’d expect if you were using a real golf ball instead of a laser-projected version.

The Mevo Plus also tells you how much roll distance your shot loses over 100 yards so that should come in handy when determining whether or not you need more club speed.

Launch Angle + Shot Height Data + Spin data

The launch angle data is within 2 degrees while the shot height is usually around 1.5 inches higher than what’s displayed by Callaway Rangefinder.

The other specs such as carry and total distance are spot on too but according to user reviews, there have been a few cases where their readings were slightly off.

As far as the Mevo Plus’s specs go, we couldn’t find any complaints about inaccuracy – only a few design issues that could be improved upon for the next version.

Golf Swing + Shot Shape + Club Path

It’s obvious that from this flightscope Mevo review that a huge amount of information comes from using this device. You’ll obtain information about your golf swing, shot shape, club path, vertical swing plane, horizontal swing plane, launch angle and many more data points!

What golf balls work with the flightscope app?

The flightscope app works with both the Mevo and the non-plus version of this golf simulator so before you go and buy it, make sure to check compatibility.

How much space is needed

When it comes to using the Mevo Plus, you’ll need about 40 square feet of space to set it up which is more than enough.

How great are the new features?

The Mevo Plus has quite a few innovative features that make it unique when compared to other launch monitors.

You can watch your ball flight live, play games with the built-in golf simulator, view stat charts on one screen instead of having to open multiple windows and much more!

What else should I know About Mevo Plus?

If you’re looking for personalization options then this product isn’t for you as there’s only one color option available (wood finish) but that could change in the next version.

Mobile App for Golf Swing + Video Analysis

We’ve already mentioned how Flightscope is compatible with mobile devices but let’s go into a little bit more detail about what this means in terms of functionality.

The Mevo launch monitor comes with an iOS or Android app that allows you to connect your mobile device via bluetooth.

From there, all you have to do is choose from one of four templates (driving range, chipping net, putting green or full swing) and you’ll be able to see your golf swing with various overlay options.

This personal launch monitor also includes a video analysis feature which allows you to record yourself in order to review your golf swing.

Launch Angle + Swing Speed + Ball Speed Data and Mevo Plus

The Mevo Plus has the ability to measure club head speed with an impressive degree of accuracy so if you enjoy working on your swing speed and carry distance, this is the product for you.

Flightscope Mevo is fast enough at detecting swings too – we shot a demo video showing how it analyses 30mph and 100mph swings and did not encounter any problems (you can check out our Golf Swing Video Analysis post for more details).

When it comes to data parameters to spin loft measuring by Mevo Plus, the Flightscope Mevo personal launch monitor provides three data parameters to you with club head speed, ball speed and spin loft data.

In terms of how accurate the numbers are compared to other other golf simulation simulators, users have been quite happy with its results when it comes to carry distance and total distance travelled by a struck golf ball itself.

When it comes to swing speeds though, there have been complaints about them being lower than what’s displayed on their radar gun.

This could be due to a calibration issue but going off the reviews we’ve read , this is not something that most people seem to experience.

Swing Videos and Video Clipping with Mevo Plus

The Flightscope Mevo Plus allows you to record your swing in addition to the video analysis feature we mentioned above. From there, you can either upload these videos online or send them straight to your email address

3D Swing + Club Path Data and Mevo Plus

The Flightscope Mevo Plus gives you club path information in 3 dimensions which means you can see exactly where your hands are through the impact zone.

The 3D data helps to give you a better understanding of your swing path and if it’s flawed in any way, you’ll know exactly where the problem is taking place.

Golf Launch Angle + Spin Data Statistics with Flightscope Mevo

This measurement device gives users detailed stats on things like carry distance, total distance travelled by a struck ball, average spin rates per club, etc which are all useful when working on your game.

You surely obtain more than enough of data points to complete the practice session as ball flight, spin rate, target line, and spin axis are all taken into measurement.

Mevo Plus Launch Monitor Market (So many launch monitors!)

The golf simulators and launch monitor market is a highly competitive one – it seems like new products are being introduced almost every week.

Back in 2010, SkyTrak was the first golf simulator on the market and now it has a lot of competition from Chipping Zone, iGolf Live by Bushnell and many more.

Launch monitors have come a long way too – they’re smaller, more accurate and can give you even more detailed information than before.

The Rocket Launcher is just one example of those advancements on golf courses as that particular system is used by such professionals as Justin Rose and Rory Mcllroy from the PGA tour.

Huge advantage – Mevo Plus Skills Challenges

The Mevo Plus is not just about swing data – you can also practice various skills with it.

All you have to do is select one of the four available templates and start measuring your performance for short game, long drive or putting skills challenges.

Flightscope Mevo Extra features – Mobile App Integration

As I mentioned previously, this personal launch monitor comes with an app that allows users to analyze their golf swings on their mobile devices.

This can be used either similarly to a sports tracker or as a more advanced video analysis tool depending on the user’s needs.

There are over 10 kinds of drills within this software which can help you even further improve your golf game by fine-tuning your actual swing instead of only practicing theurgitated motions seen at driving

Mevo Plus Home Golf Simulator (Simulator Mode) vs Driving Range

If you have to pick between a Home Golf Simulator or Driving Range then you have to consider your budget because that’s what it really comes down to.

A driving range practice, will give you the same experience as hitting off mats (just like in the comfort of your own home) but there are some key differences between them:

  • A driving range is cheaper than a home golf simulator, usually – Some driving ranges offer lessons, simulators won’t do that.
  • You can get fitted for at a driving range whereas that won’t be possible with a simulator (even if you buy one).

A good Range Session may the small game changer you need

Expensive launch monitors are great to have and they’re really good for the golf industry however, not everyone can understand the ball flight data produced from using advanced features from this tracking device.

If money isn’t an issue then go ahead and invest in one of the best personal launch monitors on the market right now – this Mevo Plus by Flightscope.

It’s packed with all kinds of new features that’ll help you improve your game, it’s accurate and will give you enough data to analyze long after your session ends.

There are plenty of other launch monitors on the market but this particular model is one of the best – not just for us – but for all those other golf course enthusiasts out there too.

What we like: Accuracy and feel, new features and specs which are great shot data or ball data information to help with all your golf courses and shots.

Can you get a good practice session in with these launch monitors?

In short, yes you can definitely get a good practice session in with these launch monitors, you just need to know exactly what you want to work on.

If you have the Mevo Plus unit then perhaps focus on your full swing first and foremost because that’ll give you the best feedback.

Don’t forget about short game shots either – chip shots are vital too!

The iSwing launch monitor is another great device that’ll help with all parts of your game but it’s not as feature-packed as the Mevo Plus yet it remains affordable at under $200 which makes it an excellent purchase for those who want a simple way to track their stats.

Conclusion – Is the Mevo Plus Worth Buying?

The Flightscope Mevo Plus is priced at $1999 on Amazon which makes it one of the most expensive personal golf Launch Monitors currently available for sale.

However, there isn’t much information available about its predecessor so we can hardly compare them side by side to determine which one is better.

From what we can tell, it appears that the Mevo+ has come with a few upgrades from its predecessor but the core features have been carried over from the previous version.

The main improvement seems to be in terms of overall performance and perhaps an increased response time which basically means you get more accurate with all the data that’s displayed on your screen faster.

This might not matter much if you’re using a computer but if you plan on going mobile with this system by connecting it to your smartphone or tablet – speed is a must.

The app for iOS and Android works well enough – however, there were some bugs here and there which hopefully will be fixed in future updates.

In terms of appearance the new Mevo Plus looks the same as the last version but perhaps they made it a bit more compact and light so it doesn’t weigh down your golf bag.

Smash Factor final verdict?

All in all, we give this product an overall rating of 4/5 . If you want to improve your game then there are tons of tools out there.

Launch monitors are one of the best however, you can get decent results by using free software on your computer too.

If there’s a specific feature you know you need then go for it – but if not, check out community forums and see what some other golfers recommend before making any purchases.

Flightscope Mevo Plus

New Features to help with your full swing shots.

Airspeed & ball speed data will help with club selection.

Track club head speed plus carry distance data compared to other clubs in your bag thanks to the Mevo Plus’ “Club Selector” feature.

This makes identifying bad habits much easier when trying to improve your game

It’s accurate enough that most users won’t have an issue with it, unless you make lots of weird looking swings.

The new features are great but the best part about this product is that there’s a huge online community surrounding it which can help or give valuable insight into any problems you might encounter when using the Mevo Plus.

flightscope mevo plus review

Although closely related, there are still several differences separating both units.

For instance, if you already have an iSwing Golf device then stick with what you’ve got because the Mevo+ won’t really offer much more to your game.

If however, you’re thinking about purchasing a new personal launch monitor but don’t want to spend over $200 for one – then the Mevo Plus offers excellent value for money along with all those extra features you’re going to need.

If you’re a golfer who likes to analyze their swing and take a very methodical approach to improving your game then this is certainly worth checking out!
