Hero World Challenge History

The Hero World Challenge started in 2009. Tiger Woods is the founder of this PGA Tour event and it takes place in December of every year. Previous Hero World Challenge winners are:

Hero World Challenge Course

The Albany, New Providence course has 18 holes and 5 par 3s, 15 par 4s, and 3 par 5s. The total yardage of the Hero World Challenge course is 6,846 yards. The hardest holes on this course are #1, #15, and #18. The 18th hole has a yardage of 565 yards. This entire course is par 72 (72 holes in total).

The Hero World Challenge is located at Albany, New Providence in the Bahamas.

It’s right next to the Atlantis Paradise Island resort which has its own golf courses as well.

An interesting fact about this luxury PGA Tour event is that it rotates courses every year so you never know what part of the world it will be held in or on because in 2017 it was played at Albany, New Providence in BAH!

Does Hero World Challenge count as a PGA Tour win?

No. The Hero World Challenge is a non-professional PGA event, but it’s an excellent opportunity to observe the top players in action on a unique layout. Spectators will also have a lot of fun at this event!

Who gets invited to the Hero World Challenge?

Each year, the Hero World Challenge invites 16 players from the world rankings to compete in this PGA Tournament.

Players are allowed to invite one guest each year. Since Tiger Woods founded the event he has always been a part of it but unfortunately can no longer attend due to his health conditions.

However, many big names have attended including Rory Mcilroy, Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson, Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose and Jason Day!

Hero World Challenge Admission and Tickets

This event is free to attend and spectate. If you would like to play on the course, you can rent carts for $50 plus tax with clubs available ($25).

If you prefer not to drive around yourself, definitely check out an electric cart rental with seat belt ($30) or a towable surrey ($100).

You can also book tee times in advance (recommended due to high demand), but if there are no tee times available online go check at the clubhouse for availability. Anytime after 8am, you should be good.
