QBE Shootout History

The QBE Shootout started in 1984 and was previously called the Showdown at Sherwood. However, in 2013 QBE Insurance became the title sponsor and, as a result, the tournament changed names to reflect this.

QBE Shootout History & Golden Retrievers

The QBE Shootout was initially known as the Showdown at Sherwood which became a popular event for those who wished to play golf with their golden retriever.

However, as the years went by and the sponsorship changed hands so did the awards.

It was actually one of Bill Clinton’s favorite events as it helped raise money for his Presidential Library Fund! The winners receive a 3-foot tall silver replica of Shedd Aquarium’s famous bronze statue of the famous 2-winged dove, “Spirit of the Sky”.

How does QBE Shootout work?

If you want to play in this event, all you need to do is call the local QBE contact (listed below) and tell them how many players your group will consist of. You can either join another group (and split the costs) or find some other golfers that wish to play at this championship course. Queue up with friends and family, and get ready for a great golfing experience!

Who qualifies for QBE Shootout?

Anyone can play in the QBE Shootout! All you have to do is call the tournament organizers and tell them how many players you would like to have in your group.

How much will it cost me?

The total for playing at Tiburón Golf Course, transportation, 9 holes of golf, cart rental fees, lunch, beverages, and dinner are all covered.

The only thing you need to worry about is your personal expenses (hotel rooms, transportation to the course, side trips around town, etc.)

What’s it really like?

The tournament takes place at Tiburón Golf Course , Naples-FL. This championship course is designed by Tom Fazio and was named one of the “Best Courses You Can Play” in 2012. It features 7,153 yards from the longest tees for a par-72 championship course. The playing conditions are immaculate year round so you can enjoy your game anytime!

Yes, this championship course features a total of 18 holes so you’ll get your full money’s worth.

What times does it run?

The tournament starts at 11:30AM on Friday and Saturday and Sunday will begin at 8:00 AM, but the last tee time is at 3:15 PM.

What’s included in the entry fee?

You and your teammates will receive: 9 Holes of Golf, Cart & Driver, Transportation to and from the course, Lunch (Thursday-Saturday), Dinner (Thursday-Saturday) and Refreshments. You will be provided with a Travel Package that will include local attractions and must do activities as well as information on how to get there.
