How do you play Sony Open?

There are two main ways to enter the Sony Open: Sponsor Exemptions and Monday Qualifiers (MQ).

For the MQ, players who have missed all or most of the previous season are eligible to compete. Players must pre-register for Monday Qualifiers and those who make it through will play alongside professional golfers in one 18-hole qualifier.

The top 25 (or less) finishers qualify as well as ties to make the total of 100 players.

Sponsor Exemptions are based on a player’s position on the previous year’s money list as well as past performance and bonus money earned at other tournaments. The majority of those that receive Sponsor Exemptions automatically gain entry into the tournament with those who do not enter through MQ.
