What is the History of The America Express Golf Tournament?

The 2018-2019 PGA Tour season is set to begin on October 4 with live coverage of The Safeway Open at Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa Valley California. This year there are 34 official events on the schedule.

How difficult is the American Express Golf Course?

The American Express Stadium Course is an impressive course that measures over 7400 yards. The layout has been praised by many, including Tiger Woods who won the event in 1996.

What are the hardest holes to play at this course?

The course has 6 par-5’s that are over 600 yards long, so it never hurts to have a big arm. If you can hit the ball far on these holes you will have a good chance of birdie.

On the back nine there is a stretch of 4 holes with water hazards in play. This includes the 16th hole which plays straight into the sea! Don’t worry though, they put up ropes to keep your ball from landing in the ocean… but why would you want to do that? Just aim for the water hazard and take an drop!

Is this golf course beginner friendly?

The American Express is a challenging course and wouldn’t recommend for beginners. If you are looking to play a beginner friendly course we would suggest playing at the La Quinta Resort and Club Golf Club where you can utilize the La Quinta Resort including a pool, spa, restaurants, bars and craft brews.

What is there to do around the American Express Golf Course?

There are several things that you can do in the area surrounding The American Express Stadium golf course! You have options for shopping at El Paseo which is one of the top shopping districts in California as well as many other shops located within walking distance from the stadium.

If you’re looking to spend some time outside there are plenty of hiking trails in this area!

La Quinta Mountain Trail:  This 7 mile trail takes hikers through a protected area filled with thousands of massive boulders.

What is the Cost of Admission & Tickets?

If you’re local (or traveling) to the area and want to watch The American Express this year it will cost $150 USD at the gate per-person on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

Children under 12 years old enter free! You can also purchase parking permits for $50 which can be used on those days as well. Unless your car looks like an RV I doubt you’ll need more than one day’s worth of parking.

Tickets start at $25 per day or $75 for 4-day tickets. The American Express Golf Tournament is held at La Quinta Resort & Club , only 20 minutes from Palm Springs International Airport.
