Topgolf is a unique entertainment venue where players hit microchipped golf balls at targets to score points. The company was founded in 200 and has multiple locations across North America and the rest of the world.

Topgolf is a fun, social experience that is suitable for beginners and experienced golfers alike. Players can choose from a variety of games and challenges, ranging from casual to competitive.

The Topgolf website explains the concept like this: “It’s golf with no rules, just pure fun. Play as much or as little as you want, challenge your friends to a round, or show off your skills in our weekly tournaments. It’s all up to you!”

What Is Topgolf?

To put it simply, Topgolf is a smart driving range with three stories of driving bays that can be rented out by the hour.

Each venue also has a bar and a kitchen, so you can enjoy a drink and some delicious food as you play.  Six people can play with each other.  Think of it like a bowling alley, but for golf!

History Of Topgolf

TopGolf was founded in 2000 by twin brothers Steve and Dave Jollife.  The first Topgolf venue was opened in Watford, near London.  The next location that was opened in 2005 was in Alexandria, Virginia.

They wanted to create a new type of entertainment center that combined the best aspects of bowling alleys, laser tag facilities, and video arcades.

The company has been profitable since its inception, and now employs over 1,000 people. Its revenue grew from $15 million in 2004 to nearly $250 million in 2015.

In 2020, the Callaway Golf Company acquired Topgolf for $2 billion. Currently, there are more than 50 Topgolf venues around the world.

How It Works?

At Topgolf, there are a wide range of different games for people of various abilities.

The most popular game that is suitable for people of all ages and abilities is simply called “Topgolf”, which involves hitting balls into targets to score points.

The balls contain microchips that collect data to keep track of the players’ scores.  Players with the highest accuracy score more points.

Topgolf involves players aiming for 11 large targets that look like dart boards.  The closer the ball gets to the pin, the more points that player will receive.

What Makes Topgolf Different From Other Driving Ranges?

Topgolf uses technology to gamify driving ranges to make the game more entertaining. Traditional driving ranges are usually boring because they don’t offer any interesting challenges.

But Topgolf does provide plenty of options for players to try out new things.

Topgolf is fun and inclusive, as it can be played by people of any age and golfing ability.  It doesn’t matter if you have no golf skill, you can still have a lot of fun at Topgolf.

It’s a stress-free environment, and it’s a great activity for groups of friends or family.

How Much Does Topgolf Cost?

The cost of playing varies depending on the location of the venue.  Most Topgolf arenas have booths that can be rented for specific amounts of time.

Additionally, the cost of renting a booth on the lower two floors is a little cheaper than the top floor.

The Las Vegas branch of Topgolf charges $30 per hour on floors 1 and 2, and $45 for the top floor.  This is for Monday to Thursday until midday.  Prices are increased on Fridays and the weekend.

For the lower two floors, it is $45 per hour to rent on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  The price for the upper floor is the same on Fridays and Saturdays, however the upper floor is $60 per hour to rent on Sundays.

If you want to save money, we recommend going to Topgolf on a weekday during the morning.  The prices are higher at night, as they are on weekends.

The lower two floors are $45 per hour to rent between 12 and 5PM on Monday to Thursday.  The top floor, on the other hand, is $60.

Between 5pm and closing time, the lower floors are $60, whereas the upper floor is $75.  The upper floor on Friday and Saturday is $90 per hour to rent between 5pm and closing time.

You may be able to find a good deal to rent a driving bay for the entire day.  If you find a deal for $90, it’s a good idea to go with a group of around six people, which would work out as $15 per person per hour.

Is There A Dress Code?

There is no formal dress code at Topgolf, however it is highly recommended that you wear closed – toe shoes.  Bear in mind that Topgolf is a public establishment, and you should dress appropriately for the game.

Does Topgolf Close In Bad Weather?

Does Topgolf Close In Bad Weather?

Rain or shine, you can still have fun at Topgolf.  Unless there is some kind of extreme weather event, Topgolf will remain open for people to play.

All Topgolf venues have heaters for use during the winter months, and fans for those hot summer days to keep you cool as you play.

Is Topgolf Good For Beginners?

Although Topgolf is designed for experienced golfers, beginners can find it easy to learn how to play. There are many different ways to play the game, including putting, chipping, hitting off tees, and even pitching.

There are different games that are more suitable for intermediate to advanced players, such as Top Shot and Top Pressure, which have more of a focus on accuracy.

Conclusion

Topgolf offers a unique experience that combines both indoor and outdoor activities into one place. It allows players to practice their swing while enjoying themselves.

You can also play games like mini golf, bocce ball, shuffleboard, and darts.

If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, then Topgolf might be the perfect solution for you.
